A turntable typically consists of a disc and a drive system. There is a set of serrated drill holes on the disc, which are used to clamp the drill rod.

1. Start drilling
When drilling, the operator needs to control the drilling rig turntable to rotate tools such as drill rods and drill bits. Generally, the driller controls the start stop and running direction of the motor through the handle or button on the drilling rig control panel, in order to control the speed and direction of the rotary table.
2. Replace the drill bit
When the drill bit is withdrawn from the wellhead, the operator needs to stop the rotation of the turntable in order to replace the drill bit.
3. Emergency measures
If there is a sudden situation such as a broken drill pipe or stuck drill pipe, the operator can control the direction and speed of the drilling rig turntable to control the position and status of the drill pipe, drill bit, and other tools in the wellbore, and take corresponding emergency measures.
