In the widely adopted positive circulation drilling method, the surface flushing medium-whether water, mud, or polymer flushing fluid-is channeled directly to the drill bit's bottom via high-pressure hoses, faucets, and the drill string's central hole. This process effectively cools the drill bit, expels rock cuttings, and transports them to the surface.
The frequently utilized mud pump operates on a piston or plunger mechanism, powered by a drive machine to rotate the
pump's crankshaft. The crankshaft subsequently maneuvers the piston or plunger through the crosshead, performing a reciprocating motion within the pump cylinder. Through the alternating actions of the suction and discharge valves, the pump compresses and circulates the flushing fluid efficiently.
